How to Save Money at the Grocery Store

by admin on October 12, 2010

There are a few ways that you can save some money at the grocery store just by doing some simple tasks before you go to the store and while you are there.  In this economy today, everyone can benefit in saving a few dollars or hundreds over a given time span at the grocery store.

Three Tips on Saving Money on Groceries

  1. Make a shopping list.  If you make a shopping list, you will be less likely to impulse buy on products that you don’t really need.  If you make a list, then you will simply be more likely to look at the items on the list and then follow-up by going through each isle looking for the particular items.  If you don’t come with a list, you will most likely be impulse buying the entire time and in the end spending more money.
  2. Look for the sale items.  Many times more than not, there will be a sale on typical items that you buy at the grocery store from time to time.  When that item is on sale, go ahead and stock up and buy more than you would usually buy for just one trip. The advantage is that you will save more money in the long run this way instead of buying each item one by one at the regular price.
  3. Look at the size portions compared to the price for each portion.  With many items you will be able to buy a small, medium, or even large size of the particular item.  If the item is something that won’t spoil or go bad for a long time it might be worthy to invest in the large size so that you won’t have to worry about buying the item frequently and it will again save you money in the long run.
